Launching of the Double doctoral degree program at School of Doctoral Studies of the Università Iuav di Venezia and Graduate School of University of Nova Gorica (study program Economics and Techniques for the Conservation of the Architectural and Environmental Heritage – ETCAEH)
Università Iuav di Venezia and the doctoral program in Economics and Techniques for the Conservation of the Architectural and Environmental Heritage of the University of Nova Gorica have established the double doctoral degree.
With the new academic year 2017/2018, the University of Iuav of Venice and the University of Nova Gorica will start a double doctoral degree program. This new study program will be carried out by the School of Doctoral Studies of the Università Iuav di Venezia and the Graduate School of the University of Nova Gorica.
Within the framework of doctoral study in Economics and Techniques for the Conservation of the Architectural and Environmental Heritage, both universities and respective graduate schools have established a long and close cooperation by carrying out complementary study programs supported by rich research and cultural activity. Ever since 2005 the universities have been carrying out a first European joint one-year master degree on protection, planning and heritage management. In line with the European guidelines and the principles of the Bologna reform, the universities therefore decided to consolidate and further enrich their collaboration and scientific exchange also at the doctoral level.
The collaboration within the framework of double doctoral degree will significantly enhance the research and teaching offer, by enabling the exchange of international experts and young researchers, which will boost the attractiveness of doctoral study. Moreover the occasion to familiarize with different cultural, historical and natural environments, offered by Lanthieri castle in Vipava in Slovenia and in the historic center of the City of Venice in Italy, will allow students to face the most urgent heritage challenges, both at local and global level.
Doctoral diploma will be awarded, both at the University of Nova Gorica and at the University of Iuav of Venice, to all students, who will accomplish all study requirements at their home university and minimum set of study requirement at the partner university, as established by the agreement and successfully defend their dissertation in front of Joint Evaluation Committee of both universities.
